What can you do with it?

Read and send a mailbox's email from Outlook, Thunderbird, your phone or another client, with the same address and password as webmail.

When should you use it?

  • You want email on your phone or a desktop client.
  • Your own program needs to read or send over standard protocols. For app sending, the email API is usually a better fit.

How does it work in ArduMaker?

ProtocolPortUse
IMAP993Reading, with SSL
SMTP587Authenticated sending

These are the same ports ArduMaker uses to read and send on behalf of webmail and MCP tools. The username is the full address and the password is the mailbox password.

What actually changes?

Configuring a client changes nothing in ArduMaker. Each IMAP or SMTP login is recorded in the mailbox access log, and its latest date shows in the account data.

Expected result

The client syncs the server folders. Whatever is organised or filtered in webmail looks the same in the client, because folders and filters live on the server.

Errors and troubleshooting

  • The client fails to authenticate: check that the username is the full address and that the mailbox is still active.
  • Who logged in and when: the mailbox detail in the panel shows recent IMAP and SMTP logins.
  • Password change: after changing it, update it in every client.

MCP access

There are no MCP tools specific to IMAP or SMTP. An agent reads and sends with the webmail tools, which use these same protocols underneath. See /mcp/correo.
