What can you do with it?

Each VPS has a plan with CPU cores, GB of RAM, GB of disk and a monthly price. There are public plans, plans for partner schools and plans reserved for the 42 community.

  • See which plans each person can choose and why one is unavailable.
  • Change an existing VPS's plan, up or down.

When should you use it?

When creating a VPS, and when the server runs short or has spare capacity.

How does it work in ArduMaker?

A plan's availability depends on the owner: a plan may have a per-person cap, a global quota or belong to a school. The listing returns, for each plan, an elegibilidad block with puede and, if not, the reason code.

  1. The new plan's eligibility is validated against the VPS owner, with the same rules as creation.
  2. If the new plan has less disk, ArduMaker checks that used space fits.
  3. If the VPS had a school benefit on the previous plan, it ends.
  4. The new CPU, RAM and disk limits are applied to the container and the VPS is started.
  5. The service moves to the new plan price; if it had a prepaid block, the unused part is refunded and a new one opens on the new plan.

What actually changes?

  • On the host: the VPS container limits.
  • In ArduMaker: the VPS plan, an entry in its activity log and the service price.

Plan change

Expected result

The VPS starts again with the new plan's resources and the next charge uses its price. Each plan's prices are shown on the platform.

Errors and troubleshooting

  • 409 for disk: used space does not fit the new plan's disk. Free space first.
  • Plan not eligible: the elegibilidad code says why (for example, the free server is already used or the school has no slots).
  • `Plan update failed`: the host did not apply the limits; the VPS plan does not change.

MCP access

listar_planes_vps is read-only and, with company_id and vps_id, tells which plans that server can move to. cambiar_plan_vps is for company admins only. See /mcp/vps.
