Scaleway is a European cloud with instances, serverless, Kubernetes and managed databases, each billed by usage. ArduMaker is a VPS with an app panel, email and MCP.
Quick summary
ArduMaker
- Who it is for: Small teams, freelancers and agencies who want a server with apps, databases, WordPress and email managed from a panel, and an AI agent to run it.
- Biggest strength: No products to stitch together: the VPS already has deploys, domains with SSL, databases and email, at a fixed price per plan.
Scaleway
- Who it is for: Teams that want a complete European cloud, with serverless, Kubernetes and managed services that scale on their own.
- Biggest strength: A broad catalog with autoscaling and usage-based billing, plus an API, a CLI, Terraform and IAM.
The main difference: Scaleway gives you many managed pieces that scale and bill by usage; you combine them. ArduMaker gives you a server with root where all of that is already together and an agent can run it.

Key differences
Usage-billed pieces vs a server at a fixed price
On Scaleway every piece (instance, IP, volume, database, serverless container, load balancer) is billed by usage and you combine them. On ArduMaker you pay a fixed plan per VPS and inside you get the app panel, databases, weekly backups and MCP; email is billed per mailbox.
Serverless and Kubernetes vs a VPS
Scaleway can run your app without a server to manage (Serverless Containers) or on Kubernetes with autoscaling. ArduMaker is a VPS: your app runs as a process or container on an Ubuntu with root, without scaling on its own, and you change plans when needed.
Deploying from GitHub
On Scaleway the usual path is to build an image in your CI, push it to its Container Registry and deploy it to serverless or Kubernetes. On ArduMaker you pick a GitHub repo and branch and every push deploys with a domain and SSL.
AI agents
With Scaleway, an agent works with IAM-scoped API keys or over SSH. ArduMaker includes a remote MCP server with OAuth, human approval and per-project, per-VPS permissions.
Pricing and costs
Scaleway bills by usage: instance hours, IPv4, volumes, managed databases, serverless invocations and memory, storage and traffic, depending on the product. Some serverless products include a monthly free quota. It's efficient when your load varies, but the total depends on how you combine the pieces. On ArduMaker the price is fixed per plan, with the panel, weekly backups and MCP included, and email is billed per mailbox. The time to configure and maintain each piece counts too.
| Item | ArduMaker | Scaleway |
|---|---|---|
| Entry server | VPS from €5.00/month, fixed price per plan | STARDUST1-S from about €0.43/month, plus IPv4 (€0.005/hour) and storage |
| An app with no server to manage | Not applicable: the app runs on the VPS | Serverless Containers billed by usage, with a monthly free quota |
| Database | PostgreSQL, MySQL or Redis inside the VPS, no extra charge | Managed database as a separate product |
| Email on your domain | Mailboxes in the panel, billed monthly per mailbox | Web hosting with email as a separate product |
Assumptions: Reviewed on 2026-10-17 using Scaleway's official pricing page, in euros excluding VAT. Hourly STARDUST1-S price after the June 1, 2026 price change; availability of each range varies by zone. ArduMaker at the entry plan's list price.
Real-world scenarios
An API with highly variable traffic
On ArduMaker: You deploy from GitHub on a VPS with headroom and move up a plan from the panel or over MCP if load grows.
On Scaleway: You publish the image to Serverless Containers: it scales with requests and can drop to zero when there's no traffic.
A client platform that requires EU data residency
On ArduMaker: You choose among the locations shown for the plan; if the client requires a specific EU region, check that it's available.
On Scaleway: You pick the Paris, Amsterdam, Warsaw or Milan region and define access with IAM.
n8n with workers
On ArduMaker: You install one-click n8n in queue mode with workers, PostgreSQL and Redis, with a domain and SSL, and manage it from the panel.
On Scaleway: You set it up on an instance with Docker or on Kubernetes, with a separate managed database and Redis, and configure queue mode yourself.
An AI agent that runs the server
On ArduMaker: You connect your agent to https://mcp.ardumaker.com/mcp and approve which projects and VPSs it can touch.
On Scaleway: You give the agent an API key with scoped IAM permissions or SSH access to the instance.
When Scaleway is the better fit
- You want a complete European cloud with data in EU regions.
- You need serverless or Kubernetes that scale on their own, even to zero.
- You want managed databases separate from the app server.
- You need IAM with fine-grained policies and automation through an API, a CLI or Terraform.
- You need a full VM with another OS or your own kernel.
When ArduMaker is the better fit
- You prefer a fixed price per plan over combining usage-billed pieces.
- You want GitHub deploys with a domain and SSL without building a registry or pipeline.
- You need n8n with workers, PostgreSQL or Redis in one click, managed from a panel.
- You want email on your domain and native WordPress in the same panel as your apps.
- Your AI agent should run the server with OAuth and human approval.
How to migrate from Scaleway to ArduMaker
Moving from Scaleway to ArduMaker means bringing your apps to a VPS, moving databases and switching DNS. If you use serverless or Kubernetes, your container images carry over: they run with Docker on the VPS.
- Inventory: List instances, serverless containers, clusters, managed databases, buckets, variables and secrets, and DNS records.
- Create the VPS: Create a VPS on ArduMaker with enough RAM and disk for your apps and for the databases that will now run inside it.
- Apps: Connect your GitHub repos in the panel or bring up your images with Docker Compose. Copy environment variables and secrets.
- Databases: Export the managed databases with pg_dump or mysqldump and import them into PostgreSQL or MySQL on the VPS.
- Files: Copy files from instances with rsync; object storage buckets can stay on Scaleway if your app uses them through the API.
- DNS and SSL: Point the records from Scaleway DNS or move the zone to ArduMaker; the domain can stay registered there. SSL is issued when you publish.
- Verify and shut down: Test the app, check logs and take a manual backup on ArduMaker. Then delete the Scaleway resources you no longer use so they stop billing.
Frequently asked questions
Is ArduMaker a European alternative to Scaleway?
For projects that fit on one server, yes: you get root, an app panel, databases and email on one VPS. If you need serverless, Kubernetes or managed databases that scale on their own, Scaleway covers that ground and ArduMaker doesn't. ArduMaker's locations are shown when you pick a plan.
How much does a Scaleway instance cost?
The smallest, STARDUST1-S, is listed at €0.0006 an hour (about €0.43 a month) excluding VAT, with IPv6 and egress included. Storage and flexible IPv4 (€0.005 an hour since June 2026) are extra; a DEV1-S is listed at €0.00898 an hour.
Does Scaleway have an MCP server?
We found no official Scaleway MCP server for managing its cloud: there are community projects built on its API, and Scaleway publishes a tutorial for hosting your own MCP server on Serverless Containers. ArduMaker includes a remote MCP server with OAuth and human approval.
Can I move my Scaleway containers to ArduMaker?
Yes. The images you use on Serverless Containers or Kapsule run with Docker on an ArduMaker VPS. What changes is scaling: ArduMaker has no autoscaling, so you pick the plan based on load.
Does Scaleway back up instances automatically?
Its documentation says there's no native automatic OS backup for instances: you take snapshots or images, and to schedule them it suggests Serverless Jobs with its CLI. Managed databases do get a daily automatic backup. On ArduMaker a full weekly VPS backup is included and 4 are kept.
Is an ArduMaker VPS like a Scaleway instance?
Both give you root, but a Scaleway instance is a virtual machine and an ArduMaker VPS is an isolated Ubuntu in a system container. For apps, Docker and databases it works the same; for another OS or your own kernel, an instance is the better fit.
