Leaving Lovable without losing users: OAuth, sessions, and security when migrating
Published on 2026-10-27 by frfrand
How to migrate Lovable authentication: accounts, OAuth, callbacks, sessions, password reset, RLS, and permission testing.

Why an exported app may stop logging in?
A login screen may look the same on the new server and yet reject all users. The visual code does not automatically carry OAuth secrets, signed sessions, or accounts stored by the provider. That is why user migration is planned before changing the DNS and not after receiving complaints.
What really needs to be moved
Identify where the current Auth service is, which identity providers are used (email, Google, GitHub), what variables it uses, and what callback URLs are registered. Users cannot always be migrated with their original passwords: when changing systems, it may be necessary to offer a password reset flow. Also verify Row Level Security policies if data lives in Supabase or equivalent technology. Authenticating someone does not prove they are authorized to view all records.
Example: students from two academies
You created in Lovable a system for academies A and B. In staging, prepare a student from A, another from B, and an administrator from A. Log in normally and verify that student A does not see private classes from the other center, even if they know its identifier. Administrator A should not list students B either. This control must live in the backend, not in a button that disappears visually. If it fails, fix authorization before publishing.
How to run the migration
1. Inventory roles, accounts, and identity origin. 2. Prepare the destination Auth service, with session policy and account recovery. 3. Configure the new domains and OAuth redirect URLs. 4. Migrate account data according to the officially admitted method and communicate resets if necessary. 5. Test login, logout, expiration, recovery, and permissions by role. 6. Keep a support plan for the first migrated users.
Frequently asked questions
### When exporting from GitHub, do I take the passwords with me? Not necessarily. Repository and identity service are different things. ### Will Google Login continue to work? It may work, but it requires reviewing credentials, domains, and authorized callbacks. ### Are open sessions preserved? Not guaranteed when changing provider or signing keys. ### Is security solved with a JWT? No: the API still needs authorization and isolation by client.

ArduMaker and the future migration service
Once the code has been audited, ArduMaker can serve as deployment infrastructure according to the stack: VPS, services, domain, certificates, and operational tools. This does not guarantee that the AI-generated application is already secure, nor that moving data is automatic. The page ardumaker.com/lovable is being prepared to present a migration and deployment service from AI builders to production environments; it is not yet published. For now, you can learn about the platform at ardumaker.com. The decision to migrate should be based on concrete requirements, not on a supposed obligation to abandon the current provider.
Updated: October 2026. The features, plans, and exports of these platforms may change. Check the current documentation and back up real data before intervening.
