How to take a v0 app to Next.js in production outside Vercel

From v0 to a VPS: export Next.js, review components, SSR, APIs, private variables, and publish via Git with HTTPS.

Can v0 be published on another hosting?

Yes: v0's own documentation contemplates code export and external deployment. But a design created in v0 is not always a complete business application. Before migrating, check that the result is not a screen with dummy data nor depends on a managed service you don't know.

Difference between a component and a Next.js application

A shadcn/UI component can be integrated into another project without further ado. A complete Next.js app usually has routes, server components, API handlers or server actions that run on the server side. That's why uploading an HTML folder does not automatically reproduce the app: a dynamic deployment requires compatible Node or a platform that runs that server. Also check if the code uses storage, database or Vercel-exclusive services.

Example: v0 sales dashboard

The dashboard looks perfect, but uses const revenue = [...] to draw a chart. To make it functional you connect an API to PostgreSQL, keep secrets on the server side and check that a sales account does not access another company's private metrics. You add pagination, error handling, a health check endpoint and metrics. In staging you run the real build, check dynamic routes and only then connect the domain.

Publishing steps

1. Export or synchronize the GitHub repository and keep a fixed revision. 2. Identify Next.js, Node version, build scripts, and SSR/API route usage. 3. Separate public configurations and secrets; protect access to data. 4. Install runtime and persistent service on the VPS, behind Nginx. 5. Configure HTTPS, logs, health checks, and login and CRUD tests. 6. Register a rollback path before publishing.

Vercel versus VPS: useful comparison

Vercel can simplify Next.js operations significantly. A VPS offers control over runtime and adjacent services, with more maintenance tasks. There is no universal winner: consider real costs, traffic, responsibility, and dependency on external platforms.

Frequently asked questions

### Should I stop using v0? No. You can continue using it as a creation tool if your Git flow preserves changes. ### Does v0 always generate a secure app? No: review permissions, data, and secrets as in any development. ### Is a Next.js app static? Some routes may be, but SSR, actions, and API require a backend. ### What about project variables? Configure the target environment variables and never send private secrets to the browser.

Moving from AI code to ArduMaker's migration service

The goal of the future service at ardumaker.com/lovable is to study AI-generated code, adapt it to a working deployment, move services if agreed upon, and publish it on controlled infrastructure. The page does not exist yet and we are not announcing an available automatic migration tool. At ArduMaker you can consult the current VPS and services infrastructure. Each project requires diagnosis: a static landing page, an SSR with a database, and a SaaS that charges subscriptions do not need the same process.

Editorial note: October 2026. Test first in staging, document licenses, and keep verified copies before modifying production.
