- Category: Projects and companies
- Status: Available
- Requirements: A project with at least one stage; To assign: the owner must be a project member
- MCP tools (Read only): `listar_tareas`, `ver_tarea`, `listar_comentarios_tarea`
- MCP tools (Write or modify): `crear_tarea`, `editar_tarea`, `eliminar_tarea`, `editar_tareas_en_lote`, `comentar_tarea`

## What can you do with it?

A task is the unit of work within a stage. It has a name, description, owner, progress, estimated hours, dates, an optional fixed time slot, priority, dependencies, checklist and comments.

- Assign it to a project member.
- Move it to another stage of the same project.
- Comment on it with text, photos or videos, or by referencing project attachments without uploading them again.
- Let ArduMaker find a day for it in the owner's schedule.

## When should you use it?

- To distribute work with hour estimates and see each person's workload.
- To have tasks show up in the owner's Google Calendar.

## How does it work in ArduMaker?

### Progress and column

Without a checklist, progress is set by hand (0 to 100). With at least one checklist item, it is computed and cannot be written. The board column (`estado`) is independent: a task at 100% can still be in review.

### Auto-scheduling

1. If the task has an owner and hours but no date, ArduMaker places it on the first day with room in the owner's working hours, in their time zone and never at a time already past.
2. Among the same owner's tasks, the one with the highest `prioridad` is placed first.
3. A task with a date set by hand stays fixed: the engine works around it but never moves it.
4. If it depends on other tasks, it is not scheduled before the day after its dependency.

> **INFO:** Tasks without hours take the whole day and do not take part in auto-scheduling: they need a date set by hand.

## What actually changes?

- Changing hours, owner, progress, dependencies or priority can rearrange the same person's other auto-scheduled tasks; the response reports it.
- If the owner has [Google Calendar](https://ardumaker.com/en/docs/google-calendar) connected, their dated tasks are mirrored there on the next sync cycle.
- Deleting a task takes its checklist and comments to the trash and removes its Google events; restoring it recreates them.

## Expected result

The task appears in its stage, in the [project calendar](https://ardumaker.com/en/docs/calendario-de-proyecto) if it has a date, and in its owner's personal schedule.

## Errors and troubleshooting

| Message | Cause |
| --- | --- |
| `avance is managed automatically by the checklist for this task` | Progress was set by hand on a task with a checklist. |
| `Adding '<tarea>' as a dependency would create a cycle` | The dependency would close a loop. |

After moving a task to another stage, use the stage returned in the response for later calls.

## MCP access

- Read: `listar_tareas` (paged, with filters), `ver_tarea` (description, checklist, dependencies and permissions) and `listar_comentarios_tarea`.
- Write: `crear_tarea`, `editar_tarea`, `editar_tareas_en_lote` and `comentar_tarea` (text and attachment references; it does not upload files).
- `eliminar_tarea` is reversible from the trash.

> **INFO:** In `crear_tarea`, `responsable_id` is the project member id (see `listar_miembros_proyecto`), not the user id.
